León is situated in the North West of Nicaragua near beautiful sunny and sandy beaches and majestic volcanoes. Spanish language is spoken in Nicaragua as in the other Central American countries.
Leon is the second Nicaraguan colonial city founded by the Spaniards in 1524. Its present architecture is characterized by its parks and neoclassical churches. León downtown is a safe place to relax, to walk along the pedestrian streets around the Central Park.
The houses are colorful Spanish colonial homes with inner gardens and patios. Near the park and central plaza you can see the colorful murals painted on the walls.
